entering the nautiloid pt 2

the battle with the illithid went swiftly, (especially when everyone joined the fray), after which more information came to light. The illithid spoke of ’the ancient enemy from the time beneath the rocks). The hand on the staff was small, elf-like, though the skin was dark and dense, with dark nearly metallic finger nails, and a very familiar script scrawled on it. It was also learnt that there was another illithid, just to the south.

while the illithid was discovered to be dead, one of the metallic creatures was very much alive in the room. this was dispatched after it tried to get very intimate with one of the party.

moving up, the sounds of combat could be heard, and a black trail could be seen. the trail lead to a dying umberhulk, the sounds to a mighty combat overhead. An illithid, in magestic robes, was attacking, and being attacked by, a golden metallic creature. rounding out the combat was a minotaut assisting the illithid.

the combat finished in an explosion of magic, lightning and metal on metal, throwing the combatants around the room, the minotaur fairing the best, deciding to take it out on the party. He was dispatched with ease by the party, and the illithid was searched for. the searched wasn’t needed, as he returned momentarily, bringing all the party to their knees bar one(( Thul Urak’Dorn aka Captain nup )) . His resistance brought the ire of the illithid, forcing him to take great interest in the hero. again, mention was made of the ‘ancient enemy’, then the party was tagged, and then released.

fleeing an illithid self destruct device, the party saw that the nautliloid was infested by the metallic creatures. they were forced to leave the ship in haste, before the captain had returned, drifting out into the darkness, untill, one by one, darkness descended on them.

the adventurers landed in what seemed to previously be a dining room, but had been turned into a battlefeild. numerous bodies, with numerous methods of death. half orcs and grimlocks in armour, elves, dwarves, humans in rags and strange insect like creatures littered the ground. In within the bodies were strange piles of metal, copper and bronze, fused together and sparking.

Faced with three choices of tavel, the party move north, entering the captains chambers through a locked door. searching the belongings, they find the captains personal chest, and begin to move it back for later removal. another locked door is in the captains chanber, and is pursuaded to open. a chest is discovered in the locked room, and, in the dining room, a previously closed door is discovered to be open, with a familiar chill in the air.

from the chest is gained a scroll, and some strange dust. the mysteriously opened door is unable to be closed, and the chill from the room ( a pantry ) is growing. a sudden inspiration combines the content of the two previously locked rooms, and the chill receeds.

moving south, more evidence of a moving battle was discovered. More bodies of half orcs, grimlocks, and slaves were scattered towards a large set of stairs, moving through what seemed to be a cargo hold. a neogi body was discovrd, with more small piles of fused metal scattered around. A strange noise alerted the party to movement at the rear of the cargo bay, and weapons were readied.

Very large twin grimlocks were discovered patrolling the area, battle axe and flail in hand. Though highly trained, seemingl linked as one, they stood no chance, and were dispached without delay.

moving up, another metallic ceature was discoverd, this one made of electrum, still warm and sparking. a strange, vaguely elvish like script could be seen on the carapace.

reaching the next level, another battle scene, more grimlocks, neogi and half orcs in various degrees of completeness. in the middle of it all was the body of an illithid, next to a ppol of blood with a distictive staff in the middle. on top of this, from a nearby door, a strange metallic scratching noise could be heard. when the staff was investigated, two things where disovered. firstly, that the staff had a hand still attached, and secondly that the illithid wasn’t dead.

The Tradeship Nostromo was on it’s return trip to The Rock of Bral after a profitable job escorting a shipment of elvish wines and artwork to krynn. Her four senior crew members were about to finish their 3 year sojourn under the watchful eye of Captain Skerrit, anxious to move of under their own steam, make their own legends.

Times had been good on the Nostromo, the captain a wise and fair man, never taking a job that lacked either adventure or profit, or putting them in a situation that their ace pilot Stanton could get them out of. Sights ha been seen, fights had been won, coin had been made.’

So it was with bittersweet feelings that the last leg of the final journey was undertaken. All was normal untill Stanton sensed a stationary object in the Nostromos path, and slowed down to investigate. An Illithid Nautiloid was discovered, motionless in the void. A call to investigate was made.

As the Nostromo drew nearer, all hell broke out. On the far side of the Nautiloid, a ship of a type never seen before had skewered itself into the Illithid craft, and seemed to be attacking it. At this time, the Nostromo herself came under attack from the Nautiloid, with a devious mix of Brown mold and alchemists fire. The crew pulled together, the warriors returning fire to obliterate the gunners, and some deft teamwork from the spellcasters to clear the decks, with only minor injuries to Logan Redtunic

During the fracas, the mystery ship was seen to extract itself from the Nautiloid, turn, move away, and then dissapear infront of the crews very eyes. Watches were set, and the senior crewmembers were sent as an away team to investigate what happened to the Nautiloid.

Apon entering the Nautiloid, the remenants of a fierc battle where discovered. Bodies of many races, some humaniod, some not, lay scattered on the deck.
